VEP for Partner Applications

VEP is open to partner applications. As shown in the figure, the native services and Docker services developed by Venios are equivalent and parallel to those of partners. Docker containers are basically used as an execution platform for all algorithms of partners. The Docker containers encapsulate various execution environments for the partner components.

The bottom layer “grid input” describes the components that are stored in the customer’s infrastructure. Any infrastructure is connected to a server within the customer network by means of various protocols. The so-called Concentrator, a lightweight application, runs permanently and bundles the various devices in the customer’s network into a single data stream which is transmitted encrypted to VEP in the azure storages via VPN.

The middle layer “Venios” represents the backend and the core of the application. Data is stored in a scalable cloud storage. Information is exchanged between services through the Azure service bus. All native services were developed by Venios itself. You can access the Azure API directly without detours.

The algorithms at the partner level build on the RestAPI. Through the API, they have the ability to access both the static data and dynamic events in the system.
Partner Frontend Services: These Docker containers provide any frontend and can be developed by the partner.
Partner Backend Services: These Docker containers are externally invisible services which can be Usecases.

The increase of single PV-systems and their feed-in into the distribution grid stresses the power grid of the Netherlands, which will lead in the end to net capacity problems in the first hand. On the top of this, the upcoming trend of electric vehicles and charging stations in city areas drive the grid capacity to its limits (see Figure 1 below). Stedin in Rotterdam foresee the challenges along with this trend and take steps into actively managing the grid.

Venios at the GIS Talk 2016

On 25th and 26th of October experts, users, and decision makers gathered at the MOC in Munich to discuss use cases of the esri software ArcGIS as well as other geoinformation system solutions for IoT, smart cities, industry 4.0, digitalisation and open data. Over 1,200 participants visited this event and participated in industry forums, workhops, trainings and came to see the newest developments in IT-solutions in the exhibitor area. Among of the exhibitors, located in the start-up zone, was Venios and showed the live-system of Venios Energy Solution (VES). On the top of that, participants could get more information about VES in the session of Robert Lorenz (PhD), which was titled “Transparancy due to digital data”. Here he explained the challenges in the power distribution grid. Below you can see some impressions of the event.

Venios at the VGB-event “Distributed Generation”

On 6th of October 2016, the CEO of Venios GmbH, Jonas Danzeisen (PhD) presented the topic “IT-solutions for decentralized systems” at the 27th meeting of the technical group “Distributed Generation” of VGB Power Tech. e.V. in Essen.

Venios presentation about “Transparancy and flexible grids” at the ETP-forum on 06th of October 2016 in Berlin

On the 05th and 06th of October 2016 Euroforum organized the ETP-forum about the topic”Innovative grid planning and control – Optimization of the grid expansion” in Berlin. Robert Lorenz (PhD) of Venios engaged actively in a start-up pitch with the title “Transparency and flexible power grids”. Altogether, more than 40 participants attended the forum and discussed about current case studies.

Venios presents its solutions at the Austrian Energy Congress 2016 (in German: Österreichs Energiekongress 2016)

Venios had a booth at the Austrian Energy Congress 2016 from 28th untiel 29th of September 2016 in Salzburg, Austria. Robert Lorenz (PhD) informed visitors about the newest software developments of Venios.

ZVEI metering days with Venios

The ZVEI Metering Days took place from 20th until 21st of September in Fulda, Germany. Venios did not miss this major event and set up its own booth, represented by Jonas Danzeisen (PhD). The Metering Days of the “Zentralverband Elektrotechnik- und Elektroindustrie e.V. (ZVEI)” focuses on the topic of digitilization, which was targeted to DSO’s, metering service companies and service companies. The number of over 500 participants reached a record this year.

Venios at the 11th German Energy Congress

Robert Lorenz represented Venios at the 11th German Energy Congress (in German: 11. Deutschen Energiekongress), which took place in Munich in the time from 06th until 07th September 2016 in Munich.

Venios at the Power-Gen Europe 2016

This year, Venios participated in the Power-Gen Europe 2016, the biggest energy fair this year in Italy. The fair took place from 21st until 23rd of June 2016 in Milan. Venios presented itself and its product “Venios Energy Solution (VES)” to the trade visitors. The booth was organized by the German Chamber of Commerce in Italy, DEInternational.

Venios at the BDEW Congress

Over 1,400 participantes took part in the BDEW Congress, which received a new look & feel by the new location at STATION-Berlin. On 8th of June 2016 Jonas Danzeisen had a speech in the session about the “Digital Agenda”, where he discussed together with Sven Becker (Trianel), Stefan Kapferer (BDEW) and Prof. Dr. Stephan Reimelt (GE). The session was moderated by Tim Steigert (GE).
